![]() TEW Thomas E. Wenzlau (TEW) Grants for Faculty and Curricular Development The Thomas E. Wenzlau (TEW) Presidential Discretionary Fund is an endowment used for institutional self-renewal and faculty and curricular development. Under the terms of the endowment, at the discretion of the President, funds may be designated and used for faculty development projects. Traditionally, the President has divided those funds in such a way that a large portion of them are made available directly to faculty for TEW Grants. Since the TEW Fund was created primarily to improve the quality of teaching, teaching and curricular development proposals take preference over scholarly research. Generally, the most favorable reviews are given to proposals with a well-thought out research/development plan, a judicious and well-developed budget, and that will clearly advance the faculty member’s competence in teaching and/or research. Review process: Provost and TEW Committee (ad hoc) Due date for proposals: Around February 1 Decision date: Early March Funding dates: Fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) though activities associated with the grant that occur before July 1 can be reimbursed after the grant is available Approximate annual funding: $100,000 Guidelines for Teaching and Curriculum Development (PDF*) grants and Scholarly and Creative Projects (PDF*) grants are available. The Working Criteria (PDF*) for awarding these grants is also available.
